EZ turns 4!

So my little guy is 4 years old now! How did that happen? Where does the time go?

We celebrated his big day yesterday with family and friends. He chose the theme for his birthday - Octonauts. Do you know how hard it is to find Octonauts stuff? Thanks to Etsy, we did ok for decorations and had a fantastic little party for EZ.

We kept decorations and food relatively simple :)

EZ was thrilled to have his little friends over. They played so well together. EZ loved opening his prezzies too. His friends and family know him well -- lots of Cars stuff, Hot Wheels, Kinnex, a new Burton snowsuit from Mummy & Daddy, and new snowshoes from Little A!  {The whole family also got snowshoes too! Happy Birthday, EZ!}

One of the most timely and hilarious gifts was from my brother and family -- A "Keep Calm & Gangnam Style" t-shirt! This is bar none EZ's FAVOURITE song!  As soon as he opened the gift, he screamed, "Oppa Gangnam Style!" He quickly ripped off his buttoned-up collared shirt, threw on his Gangnam tee and started dancing. Even Little A started horsey dancing when she saw it! What an awesome gift!

The birthday celebrations didn't end at the party. EZ asked to go to the "box truck restaurant" {AKA the family-friendly local "Montana's" restaurant}, where we had meal and this happened.

EZ was hilariously annoyed throughout our dinner when other birthday celebrants were sung to by the Montana's staff. He pouted and said it was his birthday, and not anyone else's. We asked him to be patient and sure enough, after dinner, the staff congregated at our table with giant antler headgear {do you think they clean it after each use? shudder...} and ice cream!

  Not to be outdone in ridiculous cuteness, Little A figured out how to eat her ice cream without using her hands. It was adorable to watch her figure this out, through trial and error, finding the best seat placement, head angle and speed.

EZ is 3 Years Old!

Happy 3rd Birthday to our wonderful EZ!!!

EZ insisted on wearing his Thomas costume this morning. We just gotta roll with it, sometimes!

 We just can't get over what a wonderful little man our EZ.  How the time flies when you are truly having fun! EZ is bright, engaging and adorable.  We are so blessed to have him as our son.

It doesn't seem like 3 years ago when he was born. He was always such a good and happy baby. I think that's what I admire most about him now. He's ALWAYS happy, except when he's sick. But to him, "HAPPY" is the opposite of sick. 

EZ is always joking now, and he really pulls my leg sometimes too. He loves to play, and has the imagination to amuse himself independently, but also the social skills to play with others. 

He's now moved up to Sunbeams class in Primary at Church {and doing very well considering he's the youngest}, but his nursery teachers tell me that he always shared his toys and that you could almost reason with him.

EZ's Favourites at Age 3:

• CARS. Anything that moves, really. Trains, planes, motorcycles. He's fascinated with it. Not naming names, but it wasn't me, but *someone* showed him how to look at cars/crashes on Youtube, and now he loves that...*sigh*

• iPad - Either mine or granddad, this kid LOVES to play on "his" iPad. He reads books, plays games, colours and even watches Youtube {see above}. I can't believe how tech-savvy kids are these days!
• 
  
•  His family & friends - EZ loves his family & friends, especially his baby sister. He likes to rhyme everyone's name off, then tell you how he knows them. He also likes to advise whether or not they are a boy or girl, or whether they are his "Best Boy" or "Best Girl". Luckily, I often {though not always!} fall into the Best Girl category.
•  
• Food? - He'll tell you he only eats fries, treats & ice cream, but he secretly loves carrots, apples, peanut butter & pasta. He constantly talks about broccoli, but he won't try it just yet. Maybe kale is next?
• His "cwass" - EZ takes sportball classes and loves his coach. EZ is a natural at sports. He starts soccer classes in February, and we're thinking about trying skating again. He seriously thinks he's in the NHL. When we watch hockey, he'll play while the players are on the ice. He only stops when there's a break in the action.
• 
  
• Vocabulary - EZ's vocab is always surprising us. Whether it's compounding words like "misappear" {ie. it's missing/it disappeared}, or something lost is a "mystery", EZ is always using expanding his vocabulary and phrases. He says things like, "Don't think about it", which I think refers to me advising Little A who is trying to escape up the stairs, "Don't even think about it." It's very cute. We're constantly amazed by how much he understands, not just verbal words but social cues too. His favourite phrase now, "How did THAT happen?"
• 
  
• Colours & shapes - What's EZ's favourite colour? STOP {as in Red like a stop sign}. He also refers to "banana" for yellow. As for shapes, he recently surprised us by saying his ciabatta sandwich was a triangle. He was right. I asked him how he knew, and he says it had 3 sides - one, two, three. I then showed him a round bowl and asked him what shape it was - he said hexagon. Close, but how does he know what a hexagon is anyway?

• Left & Right - He's learning L & R. One day when he tripped he told me he hurt his "left bum". Curious about this information re: left & right, I questioned him about other things that are "left" and "right", and he correctly answered most things. This kid is bright, I tell ya!

Little A {12 months}: Welcome to ONE-derland

Our little Snowflake has entered ONE-derland!

This past weekend we celebrated Little A's 1st birthday.

It's amazing how much she's changed, even in the last couple of months.  Click here for Little A's one month photo & click here for months one, three & seven - What a difference!

 We took her to the doctor today, so here are her updated stats:

• 19 lbs 4 oz - 50th percentile in weight
• 31 inches - off the charts in height!

This little lady is going to be a super model, I tell ya!

She's wearing a 9 month onesie in the photos above. She's really thin & long, so it's hard to figure out what clothing size she is. But we somehow manage to keep her clothed, ahem! 

She has mastered walking and climbing the stairs, but when she tumbles she has the ninja-like ability to avoid bumping her head {unlike her brother!}. EZ is pretty good at playing gently with her, but sometimes he doesn't know his strength -- but she can roll with the punches, literally & figuratively.

She has 6 top teeth & 4 bottom teeth & loves to chew absolutely everything and anything she can get her hands on.

Little A at 12 months LOVES:

• Her big brother EZ - he can do no wrong in her eyes
• Chatting & laughing with everyone she sees
• Clapping & waving - she's a very social bebe
• Playing with EZ's cars & trains {luckily her caregiver gave her a doll for her birthday!}
• Eating veggies & noodles - she's actually ok with anything you put in front of her. I love this stage before the kidlets start to have opinions about such things!
• Playing with her cousins
• Climbing the stairs
• Her HATS! She needs her hat to sleep, and also to keep her little bald head warm. She does NOT like flowery brain-squeezer headbands though, much to my chagrin :(

EZ is TWO

Could EZ be any cuter?!

This past weekend was EZ's 2nd birthday.  

I can't believe this wonderful boy is now 2 years old.  

I just took him to the doctor today for his two year check-up, and he's in the 95th percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight.  He's a tall and solid kid.  He's now longer a baby by any stretch of the imagination - he is a BOY.

EZ has a great sense of humour and likes to engage with us. He's always trying to make us laugh, and loves the attention of course!  He's a little parrot and mimics everything we say and do.  His vocabulary has really taken off, and he's also saying longer sentences.  It just seems such a short while ago that he just had a few words, now he's trying to converse with us.
 

EZ's Favourites:

• SPORTS - particularly any sport that involves a ball - soccer, golf, hockey, basketball.  He's really coordinated and can run, jump several inches off the ground, kick and throw the ball, swing a golf club, hit a hockey puck, and anything else that you can imagine.  Oh, he can also run like the wind. Seriously.  He's fast, athletic and doesn't tire easily.
• BABY SISTER - he loves "Biba" {aka: Baby + Aviva = Biba}. He loves to wake her up with smooches in the morning and hug her all day long.  It doesn't matter to him that "Biba" doesn't exactly respond back to him just yet, he loves to play with her anyway.
• THOMAS - Everything revolves around Thomas the Tank Engine.  He loves to play with his many trains and train set.  He loves to watch the Thomas show when he wants to chill, and it's probably the only kids show apart from Sesame Street that doesn't make my skin crawl and tear my hair out.
• TALKING - this kid likes to chat.  He'll chit chat with me all the day long.  He's always got something to comment on.  He's very proud of all his accomplishments, big or small, and always yells "YAY! I did it!" when he completes a task. 
• MUSIC - EZ loves to sing and dance.  He now "sings" along to hymns at church, he knows the primary songs from nursery {"Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam"}, and he likes '90s Hip Hop and Lady Gaga for dancing!  We always have music on in the house and he loves to bust a move!
• CARS - he adores the matchbox cars Santa brought him for Christmas!  He's always got a car or a train in his hand.  We love to just watch him at play with his cars, making noises and really being imaginative!  He also loves the Disney movie "Cars".  We watch it in the car on longer trips, yet he asks for it almost every time we get into the car.

I'm sure there's much more to add here, but Little A is crying so I need to get back to her now :)
