EZ - 1st Day of Sportball this Season!

 26.9.11

EZ absolutely LOVES his Sportball class. It's a weekly class where the kidlets learn the basics of each sport. This week was soccer & hockey, so you can imagine how cool EZ thought it was.

We practice jumping jacks, running and stretching at home too so he's all set when his "cwass" comes on Saturday mornings.

EZ's First Skating Class

 11.9.11

Ever since we bought EZ his skates earlier this week, he's been begging to go to his "hockey class". Thankfully for my wallet/sanity, his hockey career doesn't start for another couple of years.

EZ must learn to skate first. And today was his first skating lesson!
He was giddy with anticipation and started wearing his helmet yesterday! They suggested that the child wear the helmet & skates for a bit so that it's not "scary" when they go to class.

Yep, not a problem.

EZ wasn't scared at all.  Once we got the helmet yesterday, he wore it out of the store and proudly paraded all around the mall with his new headgear!

He was so happy to have his "hockey helmet".

We arrived about 20 minutes early for class {and happy we did because there was a house fire across the street and we all got distracted with the fire trucks and excitement! No one was hurt but scary all the same!} to allow EZ plenty of time to get his skates on and such.

Once he skates were laced up, helmet and mittens were on - he was ready to go! Granddad & Nana also joined us for this fun day - Thanks to Granddad for the photos!

EZ was a bit apprehensive once he felt how slippery & fast the ice was, but his dad was there to help him feel more confident.  And I'm sure "The Wiggles" music blaring on the speakers in the arena made EZ more comfortable. I know any time I hear "Hot Potato", it makes me feel warm & fuzzy. Haha!

Seriously though, I'm not joking about The Wiggles music playing in the arena! I was expecting more upbeat, pop music. Or none at all. Anything but The Wiggles!

EZ was able to stand up on his own and is learning how to get up. Thank goodness daddy is able to skate, because Heaven knows I'm useless on skates!

Little A was in the arena too. She kept herself busy by removing and chewing on her pretty silver shoes, kicking off her blanket, ripping off her snuggly hat, & throwing her bottle on the floor as a "fun game". What can I say - she's a Canadian girl - she doesn't mind the cold chill of the arena!

All in all, it was a great first class. He's already asking to go back to his "skating class" - little does he know that his SportBall class starts next week! So much excitement for such a little dude!

Firsts: EZ's 1st Skates

 7.9.11

My little dude isn't so little any more. Okay, well he is, but he's growing up FAST. Like "Lightning McQueen" fast.

This morning we happened upon a Pro Hockey Life store and EZ insisted on going in. This is like Mecca for my 2 yr old. He immediately picked up a mini-stick and a rubber puck, and started shooting the puck. He's a natural.

We walked around the store and found the massive hockey skate section.  Since EZ is starting skating classes this weekend, we thought we probably should get our act together and at least try on a pair of skates!

The staff were so good with EZ and frankly EZ was on his best behaviour too. He was quiet while trying on the skates, but you could tell he was thrilled!
The skates fit him well enough, but they were a tad over-priced for a 1st pair of skates, so we shopped around at a few places and found a great pair at SportChek.

EZ was totally comfortable on the skates - wobbly for the first couple of seconds, then quickly running & jumping in his skates.

I have a feeling that this kiddo is going to LIVE for sports, so we're well on our way now.

On the way home, EZ informed us that he also needs a "better hockey stick" {his words - seriously!}, a helmet, a net and a puck. He repeated this 15 times in case we didn't hear him or forgot.
And so it begins...

EZ's 1st ice cream cone in the car AKA What was Mummy Thinking?!

 16.6.11

We had a fun day yesterday! Not only did the Boston Bruins win the Stanley Cup, but EZ had Dairy Queen for lunch! Yep, an ice cream cone goes a long way -- but mostly just messing up his car seat in the Flex!

{NOT the Benz, thankyouverymuch!}

This kid doesn't like perfectly good {just splattered!} ice cream get wasted. Must lick it up.

He seemed to be doing ok...until he cracked the cone and it splattered everywhere! We cleaned it up and changed his clothes.

After the ice cream debacle, we decided to go thrifting. Shopping with 2 kids? Luckily I had my good friend with me to help.  EZ found some major scores. A Lightning McQueen car, a Lightning McQueen shirt {do we see a pattern here?!}, a cool Polo shirt, a baseball glove, & a new pair of unworn sandal-type shoes.

Aren't they cool?! Trust me, though, you don't want to see the rest of this picture! EZ didn't want to get his photo taken. See exhibit 2 & 3 below.
I swear that baseball glove never came off his little hand!

Isn't this the saddest face you ever saw? This face is also known as "Didn't nap enough so everything Mummy says is so awfully tragic and requires a tear festival."
In other news, Little A didn't get a call back for the national TV commercial. That's ok, she's found a new passion.

Eating paper.

I LOVE...A Week in Review

 6.3.11

EZ's new favourite phrase is..."I LOVE..."  We're lucky he just loves so many things.

For example, EZ went on a visit to the local fire station this week.  He was a bit apprehensive at first, but he went aboard the fire truck with its lights flashing.  He thought it was pretty cool.  Afterward he got a special fireman hat.  As we were leaving he kept repeating, "I love firetrucks! I love firetrucks!"

------------------------------------------------------------

We took EZ this week to his cousin Noah's hockey game. It was the play-offs, so it was pretty intense game! Luckily Noah's team came out on top and go to the semi-finals next week!  When we arrived at the arena, EZ was in absolute awe. He kept saying, "Ohhhh! Ahhhhh!".  A lot of people had noisemakers, he said, "What's that? A bell?" So adorable.  The best part was that he would intently watch the puck and cheer his cousin on, screaming "I LOVE HOCKEY" repeatedly all the while!  He needs a pair of skates!  Daddy is also talking about building a rink in the backyard next year too!

 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another great example of EZ's proclamation of LOVE is for his baby sister.  Every morning {and frankly every time he sees her!}, he rushes to her and calls out, "I LOVE BABY!"  He says "Awww...baby cute" repeatedly too. It is so beyond adorable.  She usually responds with a smile or some cooing.  And when she does coo, he repeats it back to her too.  Little A gets a kick out of that! I love that my kids love each other. We're so blessed to have so much love!

2 things

 5.7.10

First, in the hopes of bringing England some much needed luck in the World Cup last Sunday, I made Ezra wear his England jersey to church. Yes. You read that correctly.

Unfortunately, the jersey wasn't enough to help England help themselves and they lost BADLY to the Germans. I'm still trying to figure out who to cheer for since Ghana and Argentina are out as well. I think the Netherlands are going to be my team! GO ORANGEMEN!

------------------------------------------

We just returned from a lovely trip to see Great-grandma Phillips in Timmins. It's been nearly a year since we were last there, and frankly, we were a bit nervous traveling with a wriggly toddler. So we ended up buying a portable DVD player so EZ could watch Elmo on repeat for the 18 hrs of driving in the car.

This is when we turned the DVD on - it definitely caught his attention.
---------------------------

Watching Elmo and Cars sure made the hours go by faster! EZ just loved it!
