My trip to Costco!

If you follow me on Facebook or Twitter, I mentioned earlier this week that I had a successful trip to Costco.

This doesn't sound like a major accomplishment or even cause for a blog post, but I rarely go to Costco - like once a year.  I'm not a huge fan of giant size, jumbo packs of things I never use and I hate to drop hundreds of dollars per visit when I get caught up in the excitement of the supersize packages.

But this trip was different.  I actually found items I would use - and not just food - but stuff for my HOUSE! I had no idea Costco stocked such items! Unexpected awesomeness!

We found a 5 x 8 shag area rug for $139 {$60 less than the best priced one I found - but could never find again, hence I'm still looking for one!} Unfortunately I didn't snap a photo, but hopefully it will be in it's place in my house soon enough :)

Next we found a possible backsplash for our kitchen. Seriously. A random mix of tumbled marble, stone & glass in long skinny subway tiles. I adore it! We weren't really planning on updating the backsplash right away, but this is a great excuse for Big A to buy a tile saw and for me to get a more modern look! Win, win!

Over the next few weeks, we are spraying our medium brown oak kitchen cabinets to a painted greige colour - Benjamin Moore's Baby Fawn {OC-15}.

We're keeping the granite so I put the tile sample on the granite to see how it matches - it goes pretty well I think! And at $35 for 4 sq feet - it's a bargain!

Our current backsplash is tumbled marble, which I know most people would love, but I just don't like it. I think I don't like the pattern. I find it dated. Don't you agree?

Our last great find was covers for our floor vents.  Our current ones are brown plastic. Yuck! I've been slowly buying replacement ones for about $16 a pop, but I found these amazing ones for $11 for TWO!!!  Yippeeee!!! And they come in both the 3 x 10 AND 4 x 10 sizes! AMAZING!!!

So now I just have to go back to Costco sans kidlets to purchase the tile, rug and MORE register covers!  If only I could find the time...
